Heard a discussion over lunch. Two gents talking about possible legislation changes being implemented restricting employers contacting you after hours. Can seem to find anything online to suggest immanent changes to the BCEA or LRA. Anybody heard about this?

My rule is simple - after hours I don't answer any calls from my work or colleagues.

Only family and friends.

Finish en klaar.

If they want me to answer my phone after hours, then they can pay me a standby allowance, for that is what it is - standing by to help somebody after hours.

edit : and I pay for my phone with my money, it is not the work's equipment at all.

Thats why you have standby. If you're on standby then you must anwer, otherwise I won't. Just be carefull of what is in your contract especially if you're in IT.

Feel free to call me anytime as long as I don't sit in an office for 9-5
