Enabling USB Mode on Android 3.2 (Samsung Galaxy Tab)

I need to connect my Tab to my desktop using USB mode, but Android 3 connects using MTP mode by default. All the googling and searching I have done tells me that I should go into settings -> applications -> debugging and enable USB debugging, which I have tried, but is makes no difference whatsoever whether the USB debugging box is ticked or not.

Has anyone battled with the same issue? Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for the reply, and for the link. I've tried it and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've connected it up as an FTP server and mapped a drive to it, which works well (if very slowly), but the database package still won't synch. I really don't want to root them, because they're being used by clumsy people with little sense of judgement.

I'm almost starting to wish I'd gone iPad... But not quite yet.

Ipad uses the exact same thing, mtp, hence is why you need kies or itunes

It is a bit weird, but do this.

You need to update the USB drivers to be compatible with the controller for the tab.

Download and install this http://androiddrivers.net/samsung-android-drivers/download-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-windows-drivers/

Then put debugging mode on before the USB is plugged in, then it should work.

If not, root it and enable samba share on your tab. Just as good, if not better.

Running Windows 7 x64, all I did was plug in my tab (with USB debugging enabled) to my pc via USB and clicked troubleshoot <P7500> under Devices and Printers in Control Panel and windows started searching through it's updates

A few minutes later it brought up the autoplay for the Tab... It's not quite the "Mass Storage Device" I love with my DHD, but it works
