looking at the recent titles i m sure gaming on a pc is nearing to an end ... publishers/game studios are concentrating their efforts on the consoles and this can be seen by all the buggy titles coming onto the pc market ...

i mean for me to be getting 12FPS in NWN2 is ridiculous!
gothic 3 is filled with graphical anomalies
need for speed carbon has an issue with nvidia cards apparently
splinter cell double agent crashes every so often ...

was considering the 8800gtx gpu ... but think i will now rather get myself an x360, ps3 or wii ... i did not hear of a buggy game on a console ... it is easier for developers to just code for a x360 than for a pc (considering there are so many varying configurations out there)

Well looking at some recent game titles that were just ported directly from ps2 to computer like tomb raider legend or tony hawk american wasteland, in the tutorial of the game it still showed the console keys. For example in tony hawk when trying to do a certain trick the tutorial shows R2 + L2 or turn analog stick 360degrees so htf do you do that on a keyboard ?:D

Back when Sony announced the specifications of the PlayStation 3, everyone asked if it meant the end of PC gaming. After all Cell looked very strong and NVIDIA's RSX GPU had tremendous power. We asked NVIDIA how long it would take until we saw a GPU faster than the RSX. Their answer: by the time the PS3 ships. So congratulations to NVIDIA for making the PS3 obsolete before it ever shipped, as G80 is truly a beast.

Last time I checked there wasn't one console title as successful as WoW.

My games career still sticks with World of Warcraft and Counter Strike Source most of the time.
Game like F.E.A.R, Half Life, Doom are other games I also really enjoy on the PC, and dont need a console for that.

There are not many titles thare are awesome, but thats why I personally enjoy WoW as an MMORPG, it keeps me busy for a long time.

I personally think it will all fix itself up over time....the reason all developers have been focusing on consoles is because of the new recent releases and excitement of the Xbox360 and PS3. :)

Give it a few months when PC will have the top notch graphics and hardware again, developers will be all over the PC game market ;)

If i'm correct, this holiday is supposed to be the release of long awaited games such as Unreal Tornament 2007, Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Crysis and Hellgate London.

Don't forget about all the DX10 games coming out in Jan too :D

Flight SimX has been receiving a lot of complaints too. Looks like they rushed it out.

you don't make sense man, firstly I get 50+ FPS on NWN2 and I have a 7600GT so there is something wrong with you system.

Also how can you say console games are not buggy, I have played PS2 games that have had graphical bugs and the worst part is that there is no fix, at least with PC you know you can just get the latest patch, with a console you buy it as is bugs and all, and thats how it stays.

The 8800GT that you spoke about is an amazing card, and it will put the xbox 360 and ps3 to shame. also in 2 months you will be able to purchase quadcore processors. When the PS2 came out it took PC's 2 years to catch up, you can easily build a pc today that outperforms an xbox360.

And its not easier to make PS3 games then PC games, most of the big gaming organisations have already complained that designing titles for ps3 is extremely difficult and time consuming, and porting a game from xbox360 to PC is simple.

.

With the xbox360 you can just sign in to xbox live and update the game :D

Errr, quite a far fetched assumption, since only 3% of computerised gaming is PERSONAL COMPUTER games.

And no ones mentioned everyone's favourite patch wh**e - Battlefield 2 . . ;)

At console launch there's always those who question the PC's future, but have no fear in a few years PC's will always come back. We're going through a tremendous spike in performance/cost (see 8800/dx10), so right now it may be better to get a console to ride out the change, and in a few years when the affordable PC stuff starts to out do consoles, look at switching back.

While not at the moment, don't write off consoles for MMO's. It's new ground that, the 360 at least, is attacking head on, I'm very excited about Huxley, PC as well.

what dude ... on low settings???? please quantify your 50 fps by saying what settings .... dont make statements without quantifying it ... because guys with 7950's on NWN2 are getting also like 15 fps ... search the NWN2 forums (which you clearly did not , or just maybe you dont know how to change the settings in your game)...

... i spent big money on my pc and there is nothing wrong with it ... i expect to play it on pretty much maxed out settings ... oblivion full details maxed out and it runs smooth ...

and it has nothing to do with power ... yeah the 8800 is a powerful cad, but still the consoles are taking over big time and the pc market is slowing down ... thats for sure .... and the publishers etc are clearly concentrating on the console market and this is evident in the buggy games the pc market is getting .. period ... no fairy tale stuff like u have pointed out macguyver1 ... oblivion was more a 360 title than a pc title ... and its an RPG a pc domain!!!

to code for pc u need to take into account the millions of different configurations, ... different GPUs ... sound cards m/b's etc etc ... if u code for ps3 u coding for all ps3 units as they all the same ... so dont give me that bull that it is easier to code for pc than for ps3 ... simple logic dude ... more variables when it comes to pc ... simple ... thats why the d@mn pc games are so buggy ... runs ok on some and others not ... maybe its tough to code for ps3 ... but that cant compete with the millions of configurations (i am repeating myself here so u can understand ... :) cause i know u wont the first time round )

uuummm...why is nobody mentioned the damn buggy dark messiah...???

exactly ... they all so buggy ... why .. cause the programmers dont have the time to test all the millions of different configurations of pcs out there ... something also like "window blinds" on a pc messes operations of pc programs and games ... so it not just the hardware you have installed but also the software configuraton ... just more variables
