If you really had the original you would know that in order to play Dark Messiah a 3gig download is required, sorry mate your story doesn't hold water, in the future you should purchase original titles. You would also know that the game requires 10gig of HD space.

The only difference may be, if there is another version of the game, that can be purchased that has the download already completed, but if this were the case the entire download and the game would use well over 10 gig of HD space, not 6.

there you go buddy...next time do sum searchin before you post...

Ok look I don't have the collectors edition, but the original I bought was also 6gig with a 3gig download, why would yours be so different? is a 3rd of the game missing?

A question here, does a games eye candy, really matter, because I seem many examples of folks with high end machines, dropping resolution, etc just to have a supposed bit of advantage in their favorite online shooters.

So I suggest, we download the big fancy eye candy non player demo and then go and buy the totally debugged, low spec'ed player version...

or something...

Whats the best resolution of a TV anyway. Last I heard it was 512x384. Not too appealing :/ could console graphics really look good on this compared to a PC monitor?

looking at the recent titles i m sure gaming on a pc is nearing to an end ... publishers/game studios are concentrating their efforts on the consoles and this can be seen by all the buggy titles coming onto the pc market ...

i mean for me to be getting 12FPS in NWN2 is ridiculous!
gothic 3 is filled with graphical anomalies
need for speed carbon has an issue with nvidia cards apparently
splinter cell double agent crashes every so often ...

was considering the 8800gtx gpu ... but think i will now rather get myself an x360, ps3 or wii ... i did not hear of a buggy game on a console ... it is easier for developers to just code for a x360 than for a pc (considering there are so many varying configurations out there)

liewe donner jy is deur die k@k....if I had R6000 burning a hole in my pocket, I would buy a 8800GTS rather than a PS3.

I'm so sick of this same bloody debate of "the next consoles are going to kill the pc"....lol! The graphics on a pc using the 8800GTS or 8800GTX will blow your console out of the water. That is how it has always been and that is how it shall stay. And please don't start the whole debate about "pc is too expensive to upgrade all the time"...if you don't have the money then boofreakidyhoo. Xbox360 is cool...but a console sure as hell won't replace gaming on my pc.

I don't think I support that statement either. I mean look at Crytek's new engine. They have absolutly no intention of porting that to console and that looks to be the greatest engine of all time.

It does however make sense for marketers to punt console as there is much more money in it and a far larger player base but in saying that does not make the PC gamers, gamer base small and they would never turn a blind eye.

R10 says we see Crysis on a Console by 2008.

It's not an argument boys, it's about choice, so everyone get off your high horses.

Consoles and PC's serve different markets and purposes. If you can't co exist and find the need to continually fight about it, go find a dark alley somewhere and go beat yourselves up rather.

If one was that much better than the other it'd force it out the market. The market has spoken and guess what, people like both.

Hey! I also have the original. Didn't require me to download 3gig off steam. Bought it from Incredible connection as well. I downloaded the latest patch for the game and solved all my crashing problems. The reason why some people downloaded over 3gig on steam, is because they are idiots. The version on Steam and the DVD version of the game is different. The 1.01 patch solves that problem. Go do your homework before opening your mouth or accusing people of pirating.

Well I'm sick and tired of the problems associated with P.C gaming today.

I really dislike consoles but have found myself contemplating purchasing a Xbox360. The price of xbox360 games is probably the biggest reason why I haven't bought one because I hardly ever pay over 200 rand for a P.C game. I am not a hardcore gamer but the few games I do play are simulation or complicated games and that's why I prefer P.C.

Here are the reason's why P.C gaming is dying at least for me.

Hardware:
How can I justify paying 6000 rand for a 3D card plus thousands more for the CPU and RAM when a XBOX360 costs under 4000 rand. Once you've bought it hopefully everything works untill you find out that the CPU is overheating even with the case open(thats what happend to me). So I bought a cooler that not only didn't work first time but still makes a hell of a noise. At least I can now close the case. Then about a year later I upgraded my 3d card and guess what. The 3D card starts to overheat. So you have to open the case again with the resulting noise. That's not all because now dust goes in and the CPU cooler stars to overheat meaning you have clean the thing out every few months. But wait theres more because now your cd/dvd rom suddenly decides it's incompatible with anti-pirating software when you buy it from a certain store.

Software:
P.C games nowadays come with seriously bad anti-pirating software that messes up your P.C. Not only that but games are sloppily made and resource hungry so your 3D card can't handle graphics it should handle without any trouble.

I've almost had enough. I can't sit fiddling all the time with the P.C or game to get it to work like it should. I got better things to do.

PCs and Consoles service different kinds of games even though there is a blur between the genres, they skew to either side depending on it.

Console controls limit the input a user can give in some games...

According to the little bit of reading I have done on the matter, PC tech drives console development. New GPU tech etc lands in gaming PCs first...

This trend may be bucked in the latest range of consoles.

Another thing to consider with Consoles is resale value. In two years time, you'll get, maybe R500 for the 8800 you just paid R6000 for, but in two years your 360 will still be worth ~60-80% of it's new purchase price.

ROFL @ R500!!! :D

How long has the 6Series Nvidia cards been out now? Two years? Three? How much is a plain old 6600GT going for now? R1000?

In two years time the price for the 8Series will drop, there's no question. But not that much. :)

Personally I wouldn't pay R1000 for a 6600GT, that's overpriced old stock, I'd rather buy a 7600GS for R900.

But fair enough, what if we push it out to 3 years and I ask you, how much would you pay for a Geforce 5900 GT? Or a Radeon 8500? You 4 year old PS2 is still holding it's value.

Three or four years I can agree with you. A console would hold up much better than a G-card price wise. But by then there would be G-cards that would be ten times faster than what we have now.

That's what I have against consoles overall. No upgradeability.
