Thanks. As my Figo has the same engine as your Fiesta the recommended oil is 5w30 fully synthetic
Agreed, sounds like your car has some miles on it so my best bet would be to use a higher viscosity oil but keep to fully synthetic oils for these enginesAlso depends on the mileage of your car
Why I asked, one does get high mileage engine oil.Agreed, sounds like your car has some miles on it so my best bet would be to use a higher viscosity oil but keep to fully synthetic oils for these engines

Nope. Go full synth and never change. Also depends on the mileage of your car
Carbon, sludge buildup and wear and tear over years of operation. It helps using a higher viscosity oil to improve oil pressure and extend the service life of the motorJust out of interest....why would a engine with a high mileage need a higher viscosity oil? If the car had all its oil changes as recommended by the manufacturer, then surely the engine components inside the engine should be in pretty good shape or does something happen that requires the oil to be different?

It's 149000kms, any examples of high mileage oils?True, thechamp what's the milage on the Fiesta?
So, barely run in is what you are saying. double that would be high-ish mileage...It's 149000kms, any examples of high mileage oils?

So the oil as stipulated in the car manual is still okay? So, barely run in is what you are saying. double that would be high-ish mileage...
Yip.So the oil as stipulated in the car manual is still okay?
Don't be daft.No: Shell Helix 20W50
Yup still okay my Figo is on 115 000kms and I'm still using 5w30 fully synthetic oil in it. Never had any troubles. Use any high spec fully synth oil and you'd be good. Personally I use Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A5 as per the manualSo the oil as stipulated in the car manual is still okay?
Yip sometimes it does not and carbon buildup is due to the natural combustion process of the engine. Some buildup occurs but serious buildup happens mostly in direct injection engines. So much so that carbon cleaning is neededOh ok. I thought regular oil changes prevents sludge buildup and carbon. Good to know![]()
You sure that the Figo's engine is the same 1.4 Duratec as used in the Fiesta?Yup still okay my Figo is on 115 000kms and I'm still using 5w30 fully synthetic oil in it. Never had any troubles.
