104 balls of frustration ends for them Poms.
:D

Let's not underestimate the important contribution Piedt made to this innings. Not runs, but stability. It allowed QdK to settle and then score. And wear out the bowlers. It might not please the pajamas-cricket crowd, but in tests it's vital. Hats off, Piedt. Well played.

Does that bean-pole not realise he's actually a number 11 batsman, for good reason. He really needs to learn how to play a defensive-Piedt-type innings...not only in this match - where a declaration is imminent - but all innings' when he partners a recognised batsman trying to score + survive, he plays thinking he's an Amla...irks me...

Eish Morkel's foot must hurt. I hope he returns the same favour :whistling:

I'm with you on this. Not sure what the partnership was between them, but he did well. He just made another admirer.

QdK is looking really nice today...he could become top 6 material in a couple years. If he's up to the workload and he continues to improve his shot selection, could open up a slot for another bowler or batsman.
I like him at #7. Should be coming in just before the new ball is taken. Likes the fresh cherry and is in a prime slot to take advantage of it.

Up 1 spot won't be a significant difference. What would be great right now is to have another bowling option on the field...

Wonder how many times de Kok has taken a single of the first 2 balls of an over.

Guy is a dumass.

Hardly its putting trust in your lower order partners. Its the way Steve Waugh also played it. But guess he was also a dumbass ;)

As to the position I prefer to have him at 7. Add 6 he has more responsibility and needs to be responsibility. Same reason why aus always preferred gillcrhist at 7, it allowed him to play with freedom.

As for bowlers just need to find 4 bowlers who can do the job if we happen find an allrounder then great but till then 4 bowlers and 7 batsmen. Just pick 4 bowlers who are good enough to take 20 wickets.

I am either incredibly impatient or there was something missing in the bowling. Hales got himself out to a ball he would normally have laced to the ropes if it were ODI's. KG got Compton to a ball which misbehaved. Hopefully the morrow will bring something different.

Morkel was poor again. The other 3 were good imho. Need better from the most senior bowler.

The sun was shining killing the prospect of swing. Hopefully some clouds this morning,

Hopefully they will give the ball to KG and Abbott again first up.
Morkel is just not up to it. If they were worried about Morkel being burned out, why did they not rest him? It is not like he is leading the attack.

It's looking like we'll need a big day from Piedt...there's a bit for him to work with. Hard work out there for everyone.
