With the rain arriving, I guess that's a draw then. The mind boggles at the approach taken during that hour before tea...

Sorry, mistake was made here... Should have declared at Tea.

I cannot agree more. No amount of justification will persuade me from deter me from believing it's a monumental blunder.

It has just starting raining in Sandton, Joburg and it is got really dark outside.

With the rain arriving, I guess that's a draw then. The mind boggles at the approach taken during that hour before tea...

Have we become so afraid to take a calculated chance? AB of all folk should have known the rain is on its way. If they didn't know that then we are really pathetic.

Daniel: "SA have shot themselves in the foot by not batting faster, Eng should have been batting already - zero chance of them batting today given the approaching storm - it's now a question of the SA attack's ability to take 10 wickets in 1 day with only 3 frontline bowlers." That could be the rub; given the value of a win, in terms of confidence, and with nothing else riding on the match, SA's tactics have been odd

I don't think another ball will be bowled today. and it might even hang around in the early morning and delay the start of play.
sigh.

but I think SA will declare now. as much as I wanted Bavuma and Hash to get a hundred, I think they should have declared when Hash messed up.
maybe they stayed in because they new the change of sides would have just taken up all the time before the rain, and when QDK walked out he told Bavuma he has until the rain to score his 100. would explain the change of pace.

That's part of the problem, people playing for milestones instead of the team. I don't mind the approach they took if it was the first innings, but with other factors at play in the second innings, you grab the game by it's neck when you have wickets in hand and time is not on your side...

250 was already enough in my opinion and if England chased it down, well then fair play to them.

Huh? And it all worked out quite nicely...possibly an hour at the English tonight and start fresh tomorrow. Even Abbott made it onto the field...though Cricinfo says bowling off a short run in warm-up.

Bit off a get out of jail there...time to CAPITALISE!!!
