Why? It's been a poor 6 months for the test team but I'm not sure why the whole CSA, Selectors and coaches need to replaced? This team is rebuilding and it will probably get even worse when Steyn and Philander retire within the next 18 months. Amla is also 32/33 so he will need to be replaced soon as well. People need to support their teams even when its not going well instead of the abuse they are getting now. We've had it pretty good supporting this team for a while and now they need our support in the bad times.

This wicket is as flat as a pancake. Before completely writing them off lets see where we are at end of day tomorrow.

Agree. What irritates me though is that we seem to have a wealth of talented players, both in the team and on the side (Rilee, Cook, Viljoen, De Lange, Hendricksn JP etc to name a few) but it seems like they are not managed/coached well so as to perform at the highest level. This may be due to the amount of non-first class cricket played (overseas T20) and the relatively poor quality and priority of our local first class cricket.

Why does Amla need to be replaced soon? Punter, sanga, jayawardene, steve waugh, kallis, ect played to 37/38. He can play another 5 years if he wants to. He shouldn't really be captain but problem is there is no one that standsout.

Whatever has form last year was he still a great player even kallis had bad years with the bat. We are in deep trouble if hash and ab goes before this rebuilding phase is done...

Steyn and Philander are different issues as they are fast bowlers and seem to be starting to struggle to stay fit.

Agreed. Hash and Amla, ignoring personal life choice, are fit players and should be able to play at least another world cup. The captain issue is a tough one, because no one really stands out. AB is the obvious choice, as he is a permanent fixture in all formats, and should have been captain in all formats. I dont buy the method of having different captains for each format if AB plays in all formats. Unless he is not a,great captain. But I think he is better than #. Maybe it is then not as bad a choice to make someone like QdK a young captain like with Smith, as he is the other player who will play every game all formats. He does not come accross as a stong figure though. Who else is genuine captain material, and have captained before?

Turn back the clock five years back and Morne Van Wyk might have been a good choice...

Who was that spinner that left and went to play in Australia?

Edit: Johan Botha
He would have made a good captain. Pity.

Don't agree for me both ab and hash are poor captains and qdk is no captain imho.

The best captain is the guy in the worse form, at least tactically. Faf is a much better captain then either ab or hash. Can't make him captain when he isn't guaranteed of his spot thought.

He would have been a good captain but he turned into a crap spinner when he lost the ****ra....

The only thing I dont like about Faf, is the fact that he kind of got into the team out of nowhere, and just seemed to become a permanent feature. His first class record is not even that great at a 39 ave, and 43 for list A. At imternational level he averages 41ish in tests and 39 in ODI. The stats aren't bad, but not spectacular either. There are others with better stats. There is something I dont like about his attitude, as though he think he is super great. And that he gives AB head every night.

When we travel they prepare pitches for the home side. We never do that here. That being said someone inn this side needs to grow a pair and score big. They are spineless. Pisses me off. Just roll over when pressure is applied.

To be fair, KZN Cricket has had barely a couple of coins to rub together for more than a few years now. The Kingsmead track is in a similar state to a lot of the formerly fast West Indian tracks. It's old and tired and needs to be ripped out and redone. Doesn't help that the Dolphins have a clutch of (pretty useless) spinners in their ranks at the moment.

A win for us is out. Though a draw is still possible.

The 2 batsmen with the highest test scores are at the crease. If they don't come good here, then we will definitely lose badly.

First objective: avoid the follow on, which does not mean a blockathon. Bat positively without being reckless...

Second objective: Tight bowling - disciplined, line and length to make it difficult for them to score quick runs, which will make a declaration tricky. Being 1-0 up they will not give us even a sniff at a chance of a decent target.

Third objective: Bat out one session on day four and the whole of day five.

Draw.

Get to the Wanderers and come out firing - it's time to go to WAR!

England know they just need one more wicket and they're already into the Proteas "tail" unless Faf can finally come good.

When Kallis retired, I thought sa will bring in Albie morkel to fulfill the all rounder spot, but I suppose it is too late now, Albie is 34.
Albie could play the same innings Ben stokes played.
Before you bash Albie morkel because he failed to make an impact in ODI and T20s, go look at his first class statistics.
Batting average 44, bowling average 29. That is pure all rounder statistics!!!

Albie doesn't even play 4 day cricket for the titans anymore. Dwaine needs to prove himself at sunfoil level most of his first class cricket has been at amateur level.

IMO, Domingo needs to go. He's overseen the decline of our test team to standards that are below acceptable. Our test team was always competitve and watching us put in the sort of performance is just ****ing depressing.

The team is a shambles IMO.

How the hell is Morris in the test team?

Steyn and Vern injured and they wanted extra batting. Viljoen & Patterson are much better bowlers then Morris.

Nice to see England drop hash twice and amla once.
