I'm putting my money on Elgar long-term....he's captained at various levels (SA under 19, SA A, provincial) and from his batting, you can see grit \ determination.

Two reservations - I haven't watched too many Titans games so I can't tell if he's actually a good captain and he hasn't played enough games at this level yet. But I think he's a solid possibility.
Elgar yes. They could also pick Cook and make him captain. SvZ gone?

The guy who got into a dressing room brawl with his own teammate?
And you'd never suspect it from his interviews or on field demeanour.

Look, maybe you know QdK personally and can vouch for his "lack of character traits" I don't, but I think the future of SA cricket is in guys like him.

There's been lots of issues and politics within the Aussie camp under Clarke. Not just a few isolated incidents either...

Yeah, I know. I don't really care if QdK is captain or even in the team. What I'd like to see is CSA make a bold long term decision, and stick to that strategy. Like they did with picking 22 year old Biff as captain and opener. Lets see the management and team get some balls again. And not some saggy ones hiding behind a grey bush (no offence, AB and Faf and co) but some young blood to take things further than the next series, or the next world cup. Let's see a plan that looks 5 or ten years down the line, and not this reactive garbage that is currently being served up.

He discussed his state of mind with the coach and some senior players two weeks ago. He told them that he was considering standing down after the second test. It was too close to the first test and the 2 days between the tests was not a good time to make his decision.

This ^ is plausible, but G Smith has been at protea's practice sessions for a week or so giving his expertise and a helping hand, and from what I have seen he seems pretty close to Amla as a friend and ex team mate, did you see how Smith was gob smacked when the news broke?

One would think that Smith knew this was coming if you are correct with the above.

Graeme couldn't hear what they were saying when they told him...the cheeseburger he was eating got in the way.

In related news, Graeme Smith's role on the commentary team will be played by Graeme Joffe for the remainder of the series...

Oh, wait, Biff is coming back to open with Elgar and be the interim cap'n...

Where's Johan Botha for captain when we need it ... :erm:

The captain needs to actually be able to make the side. Both is crap since he lost the ****ra...

He had his glory. So did others but we need one now. What's on plate apart from AB?

He was one of the worst cheaters in the history of the game and left a huge black mark on SA cricket. Good riddance

Elgar has never captained the titans and don't recall him captaining the eagles either when he was there.
