Hi to all Cell C Customers,

If you are fed up with the bad service or empty promises Cell C has made, here is a bit of info below that might assist. As for myself I have passed the point of no return.Cell C seriously need to get there house in order, taking into consideration just the complaints I see on Facebook I would hate to imagine how much money has been WASTED on Cell C's services. As customers, what do we have to do to get a professional, reliable and stable service provider for our hard earned cash.

In my opinion there is no light at the end of the tunnel even with Vodacom's network infrastructure failing, I think this is the start of things to come.

94.7 Highveld Stereo is running a campaign, Lead SA- I think it is about time the telecommunications industry should lead by example, they are some of the biggest companies in our beautiful country and this is how they do business. What reflection does this leave on the citizens of this country let alone the internationals that utilize the services when they visit our country!

We are being herded by the telecommunications industry through there multi million rand advertising and sponsoring campaigns into believing we are getting world class networks and services however, they are simply sub standard. It is all about the cash, screw the end user there has to be a way to hold them accountable and get them to stand up.

As I mentioned earlier I am passed the point of patience and it is going to take a miracle for my belief in the telecommunications industry to be restored.

Yaah.... welcome to an increasingly large list of frustrated consumers where you can almost do nothing about it.

ICASA are the ANC biatches of the telecoms industry. Nothing they seem to do benefits the consumer. Also expect them to take around 6 months to answer your complaint. At which time they will either send you on a wild goose chase or just straight out deny you.

So what would be the next step, there has to be a way? I'm sorry, as consumers we cannot carry on like this, it is financial rape! Ask yourself this question, would they stand for this in Europe or the USA or even in Japan or any of the other Asian countries, why do we have to put up with this? The good old excuse, this is Africa, is getting long in the tooth.

Us South African's, we are push overs!

Get the ANC voted out of power and get a real two party state working. Thats the only solution I see.

I just want to clarify something for my lack of understanding.

Please note I'm not on CellC voice (Planning on moving my 3 contracts to them though since I have nothing but good things to say about their data deals.)

That being said. I too have had bad experiences with network providers before and in the end it was more a story of my lack of knowing how it works that got me hot under the shirt. Since I have been working at a network provider my understanding is better and I know what to ask when I get involved with these companies. Since I have the knowledge I have realized that my problems are non existent. However, errors do happen and I'm a patient person.

Now I would like to know what these problems are the OP is talking about so I can draw my own conclusions before signing up with CellC for voice.

hi just my 2 cents i've too had heart stopping service from providers
but so far cell c is the only 1 that actually well from this year onwards listens to customer complaints and requests and try to improve and rectify their issues
thou i cannot comment on the the accounts as other people still have issues with their accounts
but vodacom and mtn and virgin really don't care.it's about the $$ to them and as long as they can debit your account they are happy to drag out any situation and rip off

Let me try and make this as painless as possible!

Take a look at the graph, the most important thing is stability and reliability, is this what you see on the graph, looks like someone is having a heart attack it should be as close as possible to flat line, I am not saying it must be perfect however there must be some form of consistency, use the dates as a guideline

This is great, but my question is, how does a man on the street with no internet access getting bad service supposed to get preferential treatment, like PM's?

Fair enough. But do you have something I can compare it against? I'm under the impression all internet connections fluctuate on downloads. I have seen the same happen on ADSL 4MB lines. Again, I'm just trying to get some comparisons here.

You have to catch a taxi, get in a car, hitch and go to there head office. Hold them accountable. The Cell C stores are franchised so they do not have any weight behind them.

Fluctuations on downloads yes I agree, but so dramatically I do not think so. Download and upload is not even that important it is the quality of service(QOS) which is most important.

Cell C
Base Station ID 11019 Signal Strength just in one day -69dbm(good) to <113-dbm(shocking) to -89dbm(bad)
All hardware was diagnosed and was running at optimal settings by the Cell C tech

With regards to a comparison, the only way would be to research it via the net or even buy some pay-as-you-go sim cards from all 4 networks and test each sim as to get a comparison, keeping in mind the network coverage in that area.

I agree with you fully.

My concern though is the fact that I have seen too many people expecting ADSL from wireless devices. I'm very happy with mine, I guess it all depends on the type of usage. But if that is the case one would have the know how of which is better given certain types of usage. There is only so much a wireless service provider can do next to putting a tower in your yard. I'm not saying your concerns are invalid, by all means for all I know your concerns would affect me even if I don't know it.

I just hope people (including myself) aren't expecting something they know is next to impossible with regards to comparing copper/fiber with wireless.

Never have and never will try and compare wireless with ADSL, however the least we can ask for from a wireless service provider is stability and reliability.

I would be quite happy if I could get 4m up and 1.5 dwn ping 65 average and a unrestricted APN and accept a deviation of 10-12% on the figures I have mentioned.

But the Telecommunications industry in this country are incapable of doing this:-

Best:- http://speedtest.net/result/1392184358.png

Worst:- http://speedtest.net/result/1321463100.png

I ask you the question have I paid for a class leading +h900 quality network service?

We're on ADSL 4MB here at work. I would give my nut sack to get 6.2Mbps any given time. But I agree with you on stability though. I have been disconnected here and there on my CellC modem with it saying "Device disconnected" after a few seconds it again says "Device connected" But it's no train smash for me personally. As long as I can have a constant ping on wow of sub 300 on WoW I'm more than happy.

Apart from the few DC's my ping to a European server has never climbed above 300. It's always around 260 - 290. Once it was stuck on 1500m/s but I think it could have been because a tower was down in our area. I just logged off and tried again the following day and it was back to normal again.
