Environments department ordered to act on Eskom and Sasol pollution

A South African court ordered the government to take measures to improve the air quality in a key industrial zone, saying it had breached the constitution by failing to crack down on pollution emitted by power plants operated by Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. and refineries owned by Sasol Ltd.

Environmental Affairs Minister Barbara Creecy had a legal obligation to prescribe rules to implement and enforce anti-pollution regulations and had unreasonably delayed in doing so, High Court Judge Colleen Collis said in a ruling handed down in Pretoria, the capital, on Friday.

I can't even breathe today. Nostrils burning, woke up with a massive sinus congestion. Don't know if it's this, but I wouldn't be surprised at all. The air quality in Gauteng is getting worse by the day. My sister is allergic to sulphur, I guess I am too ?

So when do these rulings take effect then? Or can we expect a cyclic perpetuity of these articles in the future and nothing gets done?

Lol enjoy loadshedding. You can have clean air or power but not both. What do you think this is? A first world country with proper planning?

My bet it would take years, if ever. Probably the best to relocate to a safer location.
