How did he manage to play for Ireland in the CWC in 2007, and now for England?

Isn't there a 4 year period?

It seems the standards somehow dont apply for UK countries before playing for England
I remember Gavin Hamilton played for Scotland in the 1999 WC & then toured here with England in 2000. I chatted to him during the Durban test & he said it didnt apply going from Scotland to England, but once he played for England he couldnt go back & play for Scotland for 4 years

Heard that if the other side you played for was only an association player you can play straight after having a passport but if it was a full test side you need to wait 4/5 years.
