Can we buy the components and you install? For example, sunsynk inverter, artsolar panels and pylontech batteries?

We can but we do not provide a warranty on the product then, only on our workmanship. Why not let us provide you with a quote on your specific need and you can compare it. When we provide the full solution there is warranties is place which is a win for you as the customer, for example our inverters is warrantied for 10 years batteries for 10 years panels for 25 years linear power output warranty* and 12 years enhanced product warranty on materials and workmanship

Lack of publicly available prices for components puts me off.

When I sourced my R200k setup I probably skipped 20 websites where they do not list at a minimum the prices of major components like inverters, batteries or solar panels.

Every single all in one company I've come across not only charges for installation but a huge markup on inverters, batteries and panels versus what online retailer are selling them for. As an example, the inverter is priced everywhere else at R20k and then you have these all in one companies selling complete solutions with the same inverter priced on the quote at R27k.

That is very unfortunate that you have had that experience, there are many companies that just want to make a quick buck with solar especially because the consumers are not well informed on the subject, we are direct retailer for big brands like Victron (inverters, MPPT) and Revov (lithium batteries) we do have a price list of all components on our website www.epicsolar.co.za
Unfortunately the consumer most of the time do not want to spend money on better brands and most of the time opt for the cheaper not so reliable options.

I think the blue (victron) company is over priced versus the current tech of newer and better complete hybrid inverters. They make solid inverters, I just couldn't justify the price difference after adding up all the additional items needed to get to what the single unit sunsynk does.

Just looking at the sunsynk 8kw inverter and what a similar spec'ed victron inverter would cost is no comparison.

What victron setup would I need to do the same as one 8kw sunsynk inverter?

When did you do this system?
Why 305w panels and not 420w?

Was installed in August 2020. I got a very good price on the panels. The MPPT of the sunsynk is limited to 2 x 18A and two strings on one MPPT covers the amp rating. I have ample space so didn't need to cram bigger rated panels.

The newer Sunsynks has a rating of 2 strings of 22A per MPPT.

I have to agree.
Sure the system requirements vary, but I don't trust companies that do not list component prices. Even a lawyer will tell you what their hourly rate is.
After hearing enough horror stories about the sordid MO of many, many builders in SA I think it's by far the best to assume that the less information you're getting up front about a product - The more somebody's trying to pull a fast one.
