Afternoon peeps.

A have a laptop here with vodacom 3g. THe 3g card is a Globetrotter 3G+.

THe problem is as stated in the title, when I try and conenct to the net, I get ERROR 663, THe port is already in use or is not configured for Remote Access dialout.

Now I'm not stupid, been in the pc business for 13 years, but I'm a noob with 3G. First up I checked signal. it has a constant 4 out of 5 bars 3G coverage here in PTA Central. I removed the card, and the sim card, uninstalled the device, and reinstalled. Also redid software. Then I proceeded to check my com port settings.

It reads as follows:

GlobeTrotter 3G+ Application Interface (COM6)
Globetrotter 3G+ Diagnostics Interface (COM7)

If I go To Control Panel, Phone and modems, and click on the modem tab it reads:

GlobeTrotter 3G+ Modem Interface COM5

IN My device mangager, I went through all my com ports, and not a SINGLE one of them have conflicts. I also manually swapped them around, to no avail.

I checked windows services and Event viewer, with no errors or problems there, and made sure the neccesary services are started!

THe exact error reported in the 3g Dashboard is

*While attempting to connect, an error with the number 663 occured*

THe port is allready in use or is not configured for Remote Access dialout

1. CLick start goto find and click files and folders
2. search for telephon.ini (wich does not freaken exist)
3.rename it to telephon.old
4.click start run type tapiini.exe and press enter (no such file on the pc aswell)
5. restart pc
6. Uninstall and reinstall device

I just can't get this thing Connected.

any help/info/suggestions. PLEASE

Don't know if this will help but the Vodafone Connect software is crap. I always connect through the windows Network Connections.

Havent had one 663 since I started doing that and can then be online with 3G without having my other wireless networks disabled.
