I have decided to start this thread, with a view to keeping all the undocumented & mysterious iBurst software error messages in one place, and hopefully the WBS explanations in one place as well.

So please post the error messages you are affronted with, and hopefully we can get WBS to tell us why they happen in the first place :)

! ER017:There was no answer.

Knock Knock (Connecting to iBurst...)
... (long delay)
Who's there (! ER017:There was no answer.)

My connection which was running fine until yesterday afternoon (when this happened again), suddenly dropped last night 2004-12-21T22:20..2004-12-22T07:19, an always-unavailable outage of nearly 9 hours, and I have only just managed to get it to reconnect.

On every connection attempt, last night as well as this morning, it gave the error message ! ER017:There was no answer., and that was with a decent signal (3..5 signal strength leds, status led always green).

ER009:The network connection may be problem. Confirm a connection.

Perhaps WBS would care to comment/explain the meaning of that one...no, oh well it was worth a try

Why could "The network connection can not be maintained"?

Hope someone could tell me what it means if you get a message:

"The network connection can not be maintained"

I know this is not helpdesk, they're all gone anyway. Got his while leaving the connection open for about 2 hours doing no up or downloads (between 4-6pm) and again directly after disconnecting (I had to) and connecting again.
Any ideas?

Update:

Called iBurst Helpdesk and a friendly man, Tata said he will get back to me tomorrow. He stated that this is some unknown error, and will investigate.

Thanks Tata ;) ! I would not sound so bright at the "helping end" of a support line. It's after 10pm you know.

ER006: The network connection may be problem. Confirm a connection

Got a new one a moment ago. Goes like this:

"ER006: The network connection may be problem :( . Confirm a connection"

Real dof error message - reminds me of my techie days, trying to decypher the Taiwanese translator's version of a modem spec.

had to remove PCMCIA and replace and problem went away. Why did I have to do that?

Helpdesk --> ponder, ponder :confused:

The network connection can not be maintained

I have been rude in refering to Native as Tata, it's Thato - dis nou 'n ordentlike naam. Dof of me. Sorry Thato look at my numberof posts.

Anyway, helpdesk lost my phone number that they wrote down and therefore could not get back to me  . I remember the first piece of software I wrote as a junior developer . Can anyone guess? (encrypted answer at the bottom). If was the kind of software that one could capture contact details with, alternatively do a lookup from the central subscriber database.

Wonder if they have junior developers.

answer: noituloS ksedpleH detargetnI :D

#6 & #9 have the same inexplicable message in a box

While there may not be a solution to your problems under Windows2000, you can try RASPPPoE (which I have not, bcos I'm using a Linux box to instruct the UTD in the ways of the jedi), so I have no idea whether it would work with a UTC.

Error while setting MTU

Hi all

Got another weird (what you asked for ic) error message while using the MTU config app. The error message says:

"Measured IP-packet size is exceeded a limitation. You should change a host and check a connection state" - Another one of those excellent translations from Korean/Japanese ... you get it :) .

What I did to get this was the following:
1. Connect (UT-C).
2. After successfully connecting, run the modem connection app again.
3. Click on "MTU Setting" button.
4. Set MTU to 1400 and host to www.iburst.co.za
5. Error popped as it seemed to exceed 1491

1491 seems to be the max MTU that is allowed.

This is just fyi.

Another error

Just got an error when trying to connect, all it says is:

The connection error to Iburst.

It was working, I then installed Sygate and it stopped working. I then uninstalled Sygate, still not working.
