Has anyone been able to get a eSIM from MTN to use on a Samsung watch and then link that SIM to their main contract to share the data contract.
From what I can find on forums this seems to be a option offered by MTN, but no one at MTN knows how to do it.

From their T&Cs:
"An eSIM value added subscription of R25 per month (including VAT), will be charged for linking the wearable to the Smartphone, to share the primary profiles value and number."
I need to decide between the LTE and BT model of the watch, but there is no use in paying more for the LTE if it will never work properly via my MTN contract.

Has anyone had a positive experience?

I literally tried to link my existing sim to my wearable as an esim yesterday (MTN).

Did I manage? Yes.

Is my physical Sim card disabled and unusable? Also yes.

Thank you for the feedback, yes that is one of the main complaints people have, it seems MTN has no idea how to do this, even though they do technically offer the feature.

From what I can gather from the description of the service, you need to get a new eSim (unique no) and then get them to link the new eSim to you primary profile and number. Unfortunately it seems no one at MTN service centers have an idea how to do this.
I like the prospect of having having phone access for emergencies when my main device is lost/damaged, but this might be out of reach for the SA consumer at this time.
The question now is do I spend R1,000 more on the watch in the hope it gets better in the next 2-3 years I will have the current model?

I've done this and it worked, at least partially, posted about it in the past:

I eventually solved the problem by ditching MTN entirely and porting to Vodacom.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I found your post when I searched for solutions, it is what made me careful of going the LTE route. Been trying to get answers via my MTN business account manager, but even on her channel no one seems to know how to handle it. It's not worth the trouble of porting to Vodacom, but it does make one seriously doubt MTN's competency.
