Expect increased loadsheddings.

If we can manage to do our daily jobs whilst having to be satisfied with shrinking salaries at the same time, then surely Eskom can do the same too?

Nou daar is 'n brokkie goeie nuus....

Some good news, they can't expect us to be pushovers (and I tip my hat to Nersa for putting their foot down) and telling Eskom to go back to the drawing board and rethink their strategies...

I'm quite impressed, but also, next year will be interesting if they push for higher than inflation then...

Eskom will re-apply as NERSA has said they can make another application "with proper methodology'

I actually think they'd be smart enough to realise that suddenly increasing load-shedding is not going to be in their best interests.
Especially since Zuma just appointed Silus Zimu as a special advisor on energy. Who knows what 'emergency powers' he could be given to sort this out?

Eskom should have cancelled application as soon as they heard they're getting the 23 billion for diesel. There is no need for this increase anymore and there should be no load shedding for the next 23 months.

Yes, that's the crux of the NERSA response. It seems they didn't reject the Eskom application based on principles, but purely on using the wrong methodology in the multi-year price determination methodology. NERSA practically invited them back

Zuma doesn't appoint people to sort stuff out, that would be counter revolutionary. He appoints for favours and protection.

The SA public at large has the story down pat ....

Eskom wants 10%, loadsheds to soften everyone up, asks for 30%, gets 15%, loadsheds again and settles at 20% - big win for the CEO when he leaves with that big bonus.

Eskom needs to decide whether its a profit business or a public NPO service provider .... seems to me they want it both ways.

Privatise the fekking thing and open the door to competition.
