Just imagine the chaos that will ensue when things go wrong with this system (and it's not an if..**** will go wrong). You'll live in a home with an electricity supply that's in limp mode when its not supposed to be in limp mode....

This could probably work in a 1st world country, but not here in wonderful SA where incompetence is considered an achievement.

African solutions...
Why not move to Perth, Australia?
Oops you going to love their Smart Meter! Not only can limit usage they charge a multiplier in peak. Pay 4 or 6 times the rate per unit.
But wait that is not all. Providers in UK , US and EU doing the same.

Load management is a better option than blunt on off. Rather have 10A or 20A than ZERO. Get your 60A when possible.

Use Gas and Solar for heat.

So instead of providing electricity like mandated lower the bar for providing electricity like mandated. And in a few years we're right back where we are with stage 8 and your geyser off.

The key word here is "plan".

Plan = Tender Corruption

The same way the ANC "plans" to get rid of corruption.
Exactly. R160bn (have to multiply by 10 for corruption) debt will be incurred and 5 meters will be installed.

What is most upsetting is knowing that all ministers residents are excluded from load shedding.

I still maintain that all government employees should only be allowed to make use of government hospitals, government schools and endure loadshedding like everyone else
#1 problem in the world, politicians are always shielded from the consequences of their decisions.

Why not move to Perth, Australia?

The key is that the normal rate is dirt cheap so people actually invest in batteries without solar to charge during off peak and use during peak. That's the principle the Tesla Powerwall is based on.

And a 1-5A limit when you have power?

In this race to the bottom

So this smart plan will take four years instead of fixing the source of the problem. They have no plan to fix Eskom do they?

Did These pea brains think that the new levy based system that people would not pay the extra levy to have 30/40/50/60A connections

And now that it did not pan out they want to do the A limitations by force

Unfortunately the writing is on the wall for SA

If this next election does not show a course change we have to realise

We all have to try and leave SA
For better pastures

And if i say all i mean all

SA is literally going back to the dark ages

You can only fix something if the rate of fixing is faster than the rate of breaking

In SA that ratio has been out of whack for many many years

We all hope for the change to come and it ain't happening

The problem has to be solved by private companies/people

They/us have to push to grid to make up for the inadequacies of government, we simply can't afford to do nothing any longer

Cause this ship is going down

We have 3 choices

Do we help bail water or sink with the ship or take a life raft

Government has to subsidize inverters with a grid feed feature that can't be switched off

And subsidise panels

Or

They can install these on schools/hospitals that have lots of roof space

ie fill up all government owned roofspace except mp roofs naturally

Eskom’s plan to force people to switch off geysers and home appliances

Eskom wants to use smart meters to limit the electricity supply to households and force people to switch off their geysers and home appliances.
If Eskom attend to the illegal connections in Soweto, Khayelitsha, ect, they will have all the power they need for paying users. Now punishing paying customers. People who have illegal connections have no regard or respect for what they are using, leaving devices on all day, stoves in winter.
