to [decide] which of the entities would adequately undertake this massive programme for government.

Translation: Submit your cheques to PO Box Nkandla. T&C apply, cheques are non refundable, project will be awarded which ever 'entity' submits the highest value cheque

This is just so that they can create a new higher management/executive layer to earn ridiculous salaries and bonuses.

Waits to hear what company/parastatal link will be created between South African Government and Putin to run these nuclear power stations

I expect the imagination will be relatively limited...

I think we will be introducted to NuKom shortly :p

Nuclear might the correct technology to provide adequate base load electricity until we can rely on Grand Inga, but the current regime have unfortunately proven that they cannot be trusted.
Political opposition, media and civil society have a massive task to make sure this thing is implemented properly!

Sounds a bit like allowing a rapist to review his victim. Useless politicians meddling again, like one electricity crisis isn't enough.

The problem is that Eskom doesn't seem to have the expertise to build a long-drop.

Eskom is the only power company on the continent with experience in nuclear power stations...they had better be the project lead.

If they put this under the oversight of some committee of assorted crooked cadres & friends then it'll either never get done or end in a mushroom cloud.

Would much rather have Eskom do this (despite their failings) than anybody else...

Eskom's expertise is seriously questionable.

Something like this will have to be a turnkey project with foreign expertise, and preferably labour as well.

They used to have that expertise. Most of those engineers are now long gone.

Everytime Koeberg shuts down a unit for refueling and maintenance they have to fly in experts from overseas to do it.

Yeah they lost expertise but still have more than anyone else (nothing). The ANC has clearly decided that SA is doing this nuclear thing one way or the other...so on balance I'd rather have Eskom have a go at it than anyone else. (The old Pelindaba / Valindaba crowd would also work for me...but those retired already afaik & are melanin challenged anyway)

Hell if they need to then hand over Kusile to someone else...but the nuclear project *has* to be Eskom.
