It has been +- 15 years with the energy crisis. They probably will not address load shedding anytime soon. Isn't Eskom also receiving bail out money from the state?

Also, it is pretty strange that the Western Cape Government is not ahead of the curve on this one. From a legal perspective, could the provinces not have come up with their own energy supply plans?

"The attorney’s letter – that the government acknowledged – represents the views of opposition politicians and South Africa’s biggest labour unions.

The letter states that groups of public interest are in a position to engage in a lawsuit against Eskom’s CEO Andre de Ruyter and the Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordan if the two do not devise a detailed plan to stop rolling blackouts and reverse the recent tariff hike by Nersa.

Signatories behind the letter include the United Democratic Movement, Build One South Africa, the Inkatha Freedom Party, and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa."

It is the very same unions and political parties who are corrupt and looting Eskom yet they have the audacity to furnish stupid letters. Things are fvcked up and upside down in this country.

The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) says it is doing everything possible to end or minimise load shedding, and those who stand in its way will face the full force of the law.

Everything possible hey? Seems like not much is possible with this lot.

We do not need government or Eskom plans. Both their plans have failed for almost 15 years and they are incapable of running this utility. What we need is the Constitutional Court to remove Eskom from Government and place it into private control. We need the court to exempt Eskom from labour laws, AA and BEE until it is saved and then revisit these policies again to see if the country can face another collapse. Until this happens, Eskom is done.

The fact that Eskom is promising to suddenly end load shedding shows that they are lying.
We all know that it is not possible with their current work force.

If the power situation suddenly improves and we are back to stage 2, 1, or no load shedding, they are probably running the power plants flat out into the ground with no maintenance like back in 2015, so expect reliable power for a few years before everything suddenly breaks and plunges back into stage 6 or worse.
