Eskom adds power to the grid

I wonder if this is proper maintenance, or just "Get the thing working at any cost" maintenance.

Being Africa, I fear it's the latter.

Inclined to agree given that there was no load shedding over the long weekend, I'm expecting a minimum of stage 2 in the evenings for the rest of the week.

Hey but it makes for a good story to tell..

Thanks for doing your JOBS.
PV Solar panels going up soon.
The will be a lot less dependent on this useless institution.

Every week, Eskom has released a system status bulletin on a Monday with the available capacity. This week we get a 'marketing pr' statement saying a bunch of capacity is available but we can't confirm that this represents a genuine improvement without the missing weekly bulletin to give us the totals.

Even with the totals, this latest PR is hard to make sense of. The last bulletin gave 'available capacity' as ranging from a low of 27 998 MW (estimated for 28/4 ie for today) up to a max actual of 31 045 on 20/4. That's a range of 3 047MW in a week, which is a 'normal weekly' swing of almost twice the 1 643 MW which the latest press release said it had added.

How do they classify this as adding power to the grid? The power was already part of the grid.
