Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer calling it a day in April 2023

I bet he can't wait.......the timing is great.

Eskom board will ask Oberholzer to train a successor.
That is a stupid question! Any organisation with ANY hopes of continuing to operate knows all about succession planning. There should already be suitable candidates in the pipeline ready to take over. Trying to train a successor with just over 3 months to go is just ridiculous. No one should be asking the current incumbent to train a successor. It is in his job description ( or, it used to be) as it is in every single managerial position in any organisation.

Eskom chief operating officer Jan Oberholzer will retire from the state-owned power utility in April 2023 after over 30 years of service

Oberholzer expressed his deep gratitude to @Hanno Labuschagne for not stating that he retires on April Fools Day, 2023.

According to the report, it isn’t clear if the Eskom board will ask Oberholzer to train a successor.

Doesn't matter, we will never get a better reactionary mug(shot) from any Eskom employee than what Oberholzer gifted to us all!

I hope the whole company burns to the ground.
They have completely fked us for the last 22 or more years.
Raping the ones who pay legally and now have to keep paying for the zuma years

It was the ANC, and the ANC alone, that fked "you" for the last 22 years, not Eskom as such. Without Eskom, when burnt down as you wish, this country will be decolonized completely forever.

Very true, especially since the guy did not surprise everyone by suddenly being over 60 years old all of a sudden.

Generation being the core of Eskom business the natural successor would be the head of generation, problem is that people have been resigning from that position like it's being phased out, so there are not many options there, Koeberg has also been losing very senior people.

The guy who has just been appointed head of generation looks a more likely candidate but he is probably needed more in that position. Since Oberholzer has been generally useless as a chief engineer maybe there's no harm in finding someone from outside for the position.

Yeah, "unregistered" was probably the wrong word for them to use in that press release. More like "pre-registered" by an unscrupulous shop owner.

With the Solar system we have installed, we are capable (all sunny days) of producing double our needs but there is no system yet available to export this excess power to the local/national grid.
When will Eskom & local municipalities in KZN get systems in place to allow power export?
