Eskom reveals more areas that can skip load-shedding

Eskom is expanding its load-limiting project to more Gauteng areas after a successful pilot in Fourways and good reception in Riverside View.

The load-limiting mechanism forms part of the Demand Side Management initiative, which aims to manage and optimise electricity consumption to better balance energy supply and demand.

Wow, people really believe this nonsense?

If giving you 2.4kwh is all that's needed to "lower' consumption, then there is no reason to load shed townships and poor and lower middle class households, because they use less then that anyway.

All i see is sheep walking to the slaughter house hoping for a BJ.

That is because even such households use more than 10A, especially at peak times, we have a 20A here in the village, it doesn't take much to trip it.

The very fact that their isn't any smart monitoring for such areas is the reason why they are also shed, you cannot just assume they will stay at a constant 10A, demand can spike at any time even when such areas generally use less power compared to larney areas.

Anc logic. Fix the the real problem instead of fancy plans and ideas and stupid extra tendas

Queue 2000W is better than nothing...
Of course it is, a lot of businesses can remain open on 2400W, especially those small businesses that everyone uses as an example of how devastating load shedding is to the economy. Are we all of a sudden opposed to that now or what is the problem my fellow South Africans?

Nothing, just that the argument hasn't been made yet, and once someone does it will turn into the same debate that's been had before...

Our little town never use that much power after 5pm

Hardly ever. Even with a stovetop or kettle on, it will most likely just hover below 10a. Both of those needs to be on to go over, or a fan/heater. Hell, my base load at night without any element on, is 750Wh, and my bank puts me in the 1% group.

I can, because they generally have a base load of under 500wh without any stove/kettle/fan/heater on. But you're missing the point here...

Eskom loadshed us by taking away an assumed 1000MW per stage. Now they say, we will give you 2.4kwh to use as you please...why...to lower electricity usage. This will literally be business as usual for most households...the same households that needed to be loadshed before in order to get to that 3000MW stage 3 mark.

Please make it make sense for me.

You are being suckered into a scam with the usual carrot to control your load in future. Either that or there was never any power shortage (something i've been saying for ages) and they just needed a crisis to sell you that carrot.

A kettle is 2000w alone unless you get a eco one which is 1300
