That SA hasn't had riots as in Big Time is unreal.
Ah, off the subject of electricity but this is the BIG picture. Grants and bloated cadre employment in ANC controlled entities from government to SOE's and municipalities are keeping the masses just simmering; Zim style in the late 90's. This largesse has been funded by tax and rate increases as well as borrowing, much borrowing. So SA government's three biggest expenses are grants, salaries and interest payments; all paid out of tax income. If the economy was being allowed to grow (hampered by idiotic BEE / ANC garbage, destruction of small business and no power etc etc) SA may just squeak through. Now, like things are, you be the judge; Zim and Venezuela beckon.

Awesome if it takes six months of no power for voters to change their political alliance then let's do it! Solutions to the problem are very simple, fire / retrench 50 percent of Eskom staff, fix power plants, allow an open grid, buy power in and sell at the same price, time of day tarrifs, allow any company to sell power into the grid.

It will not work... It didn't work in Zimbabwe either.
You don't understand how this works, do you...

Energy experts Mike Rossoue, Ted Blom and Chris Yelland.

Never worked a day at a utility or power station.

They only usefull to generate headlines.
Some of them predicted what is happening now a decade ago. It seems we did not listen. So continue to ignore them, it is working so well.

I totally agree, but there is no point in being only negative. We as civilians especially engineers need to formulate a plan to help save the country to survive!!
You cannot formulate any plan... the ANC is the roadblock to any plan regardless.
This starts with getting rid of both the DA and the ANC and replacing the government with people who know what they are doing, and aren't politically connected. An impossible task.

The only REALLY useful person would be Alec Ham' past head of projects before the current bosses took over. He also has a far more valuable opinion than the three "energy experts" quoted above

That would need to be part of the PLAN. Note I said, Civilians and engineers.
The engineering would be the EASY part of the plan!!
