Eskom has shut down Koeberg's Unit 1 generator

Actually the mean time for nuclear is 7 years, the 80s and 90s saw nuclear power plants taking ages, plus it's only thanks to western countries that the mean time is high as well, cause they can run into long delays thanks to greenies

I think you are referring to the mean time of a reactor, which is 7 - 8 years which is why I said a plant would start producing power and earning income after 8 years. Plants typically have 2 - 4 units and build of units is staggered so the whole plant takes longer.

Here's statistics from 2022 with the mean being a little over 100 months for a reactor:

Yes and that is because of the West and the statistics going back to the 80s and 90s when plants did take longer, coal plants also take awhile to come online.
 
I live a few Km's away from Koeberg.
Now I know why the sunsets have been particularly vibrant and red the last week or so.
Must be weird cause it's been vibrant and red up here in JHB as well...
