Before I even got into the article, I was thinking about this famous historical analogy:
“I think when he saw what Tutuka looked like, he understood that the Potemkin village that had been portrayed to him – a very pleasing picture was presented, you know, ‘Sure, we can get to an EAF 75%’ – but when he saw what the true state of the plant was, then I think he said ‘okay, now we need some drastic interventions’,” De Ruyter told us a few days later.

I dont know how you would do it, but I would simply

FIRE THE CEO

And then fire the entire management executive. They are totally useless. They have been in charge for 2 years and still they havent really done anything to deal with it. The public has said many a times that a lot of Eskom employees need to be shown the door, but that never happens. And the CEO hardly objects to anything. Heck they stole R1.5 billion bucks or parts from under his watch yet he doesnt do anything but keep asking for more money.

De Ruyter should be fired, as simple as that. When a ship sinks, the captain should go down because it all happened during his watch, but he is there as a white puppet to make the tax payers happy, and he isnt really doing anything that he is supposed to be doing, other than deflect the criticism.

Actually, he's the only one who seems to have been dealing with clarity in the whole issue vs under the rug. The problem is political and policies being driven outside of the entity.

I remember there was a massive drive for artisans. I was even offered a full internship and entry to their programs back in '96 which I declined because I wanted to study further in a differant field.

South African labour laws work very differently to how they do in the US.
100% correct. Even in some European countries as well. SA seems to hold on to something that is completely outdated for many years already. That's the problem in having Unions who calls the shots. Shut them down and maybe..... Unfortunately the masses are too stupid to see long term solutions etc & you will have looting, that goes with it.

But then SA also have way too many people, incompetent people. Competent people are few & far between. I look @ this from a different viewpoint, having left 20 years ago. Your load shedding is going to turn 21 & the same problems will still be there. Difference, 15% more people will have Solar, the masses not.

Insiders reveal explosive information about Eskom's collapse

Eskom insiders have revealed that politics, poorly skilled staff, a lack of training, affirmative action, poor budgeting, and corruption are the real reasons for the collapse at Eskom. explosive

In 2022, South Africans endured the worst load-shedding the country has ever seen, and many experts warned the situation is set to get worse.
Why is the word, "explosive" randomly placed in the blurb and article?

The entire Eskom is beyond redemption. It is actually the perfect manifestation of the chickens coming home to roost.

It started with ANC nationalism, that replaced any- and everything that functioned according to spec, but had even the slightest hint of whiteness. That had to be replaced by anything which is black, whether it functioned or not, and at any cost. Ultimately, this was utilized as tool for mass-cadre-deployment. These institutions had inherent capital (functioning) that had some legs, but the years started coming and they won't stop coming, and eventually that capital has been exhausted. Every incompetent deployee-employee, relied on other employees to actually take up their slack, without realising that the rest were also incompetent deployee-employees.

The ideology has not gone away, and now Eskom cannot be saved, for the ideology will not allow it.

This was an astonishing about turn: in two years, Eskom had gone from predicting an 8GW surplus by 2022 to a 5GW shortfall. Instead of an 80% EAF, the energy planning office now considered 74% to be a best-case scenario, but warned that we could be staring down the barrel of a 64% EAF by 2022, or worse.

“Insufficient plant maintenance due to either funding constraints or the unavailability of space to do maintenance would cause a further deterioration in plant performance,” it warned.

We knew this all along. No need for these insiders to come forward. AA and BEE took another victim. Nothing new either. Crimes against humanity. The ANC should be prosecuted and sanctioned for introducing these discriminatory laws.

Yoh okes hate this guy.

He did fix Eskom and reduce Loadshedding, right?

In any normal functioning country he would not have had a job today. But, then again, this is SA.
