We knew that already, it's not like they've built anything new to replace the old ones.
What about Medupi and Kusile?

Oh.

Scrap that then, they don't count. Over budget and still not working 100%. Just like the old ones.

The chances of a domino effect is high.

May it never happen.
This

Eskom is running the risk of these plants getting beyond economical repair or worse written off. Our plant are not modern or specialized, many countries are operating similar units and systems as such support and expertise is available.
But alas we'll rather run everything into the ground and sit with nothing rather allow others to be involved.

Par for the course in Africa though.

This is what happens when you let most of your workers with years of experience take pension packets combined with theft and corruption. What do they want 20% increase for ?nothing is happening to rescue Eskom but they want more wtf people are already struggling to survive.

I'm going to predict that de Ruyter won't be here next December.
He'll be here cause Eskom has to do hard things (hard for them and their shareholders) like prosecuting corrupt people and firing others. And no cadre has the guts for that cause their guts is made from money and the one that starts the prosecuting and go against the ideological belief of the fat one and allows IPP's and stop coal will NOT get a golden transfer.
So they will use De Ruyter, who is excluded from golden transfers anyway due to the ANC's racial discrimination, to do what MUST be done if Eskom and the SA economy is to be saved.
