Who to blame for Stage 6 power cuts

Independent energy expert Hilton Trollip says that Eskom's current load-shedding woe is due to the failures of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).

Trollip explained that the DMRE is required by law to make plans well in advance to connect new generation capacity to South Africa's power grid, which it has failed to do for more than a decade.

It is the City of Tshwane's fault, with that debt of 900m or something. Definitely not Eskom.

If Cyril were to grow a spine and fire Gwede, who would actually be a realistic suitable replacement? Since the ANC pretty much only deploy their cadres into positions, getting anyone with experience is out of the question. So the person would have to come from the pool of useless existing cadres ... all of which are someone more useless than the next.

Am I the only one who thinks Eskom being in DMRE causes a conflict of interest?
  • Eskom would like to use renewables+storage as it's cheaper (LOCE), faster to bring online and better for environment
  • DMRE would like to use coal as it gets better kickbacks from truckers, keeps mining unions happy and easier for state capture corruption (eg Medupi)
IIRC, Eskom used to be in Public Enterprises.

It's not even about who he can deploy anymore. It's about who in his faction he can deploy...

Cool.

So this did not happen?

So DRME is responsible for Energy and Eskom is responsible for ?

So Eskom is responsible for the generation and distribution/transmission of electricity and reports into the DPE, whereas the DMRE is responsible for the acquisition of new energy and the energy generation mix strategy of the country and has a corrupt treasonous fsckwad of a fossil in charge.

So in SA, there are no SOLUTIONS? Seems the BLING words are, PROBLEM, INCOMPETENCE etc. So how can SA be functional? Just asking.
