It really is sad to hear a useless Eskom CEO say “Our senior managers pray that none of the current infrastructure breaks down."
What interim measures are they planning to prevent that from happening or is prayer what they get paid for? The only thing that gives me some comfort is that we are all going to be in this mess together, whether you are an ANC, DA or EFF member. Even the large amount of illegal aliens are also going to suffer through this uncomfortable "blackout" in SA. Instead of looking at racial issues as the answer to everything, could Eskom (read ANC) just maybe start to use their international influence to maybe avert this massive "blackout"? (No Chinese involvement as they are the devil in disguise)
I got this from a former experienced.
THE Head QA Guy resigned over the lack of expertise on inspection of not only the Boilers but the supporting Structural Steel as well, he left after being overruled by the CEO of M&R. I am not aware of any other station in SA utilising Hitachi Boilers which makes the situation worse because Eskom have no experience of these Boilers!!!
All except for those responsible. All the bastards in higher positions within government and eskom will all have power, even if entire country goes down. You will see those massive generators supplied by eskom sitting in their gardens. And where will they be when the generators are running in their gardens? in 5 star hotels overseas sipping cocktails and their johnny walker blues
The big problem is they are being run by the ANC who don't care about "infrastructure problems". Just keep the lights on. Eskom should have rolling load shedding now to maintain at least a bit of a reserve margin so that if something trips the whole system doesn't crash. But they are not allowed to do so and therefore they must "pray".

It is amazing that they are willing to show exactely what is going on but Eskom are not. I understand that SA's network is bigger and more complicated, but it should be possible for Eskom to do the same.
Namibia were receiving 271.81 MW from SA on 15/01/2014 at 11:10 .
People who say Namibia , Botswana ect should be cut off do not understand the advantages of the Southern African Power Pool. There is a big opportunity for solar power plant in the far west of Namibia. This is 1500 KW West of JNB so they are still in Sunlight and producing power as JNB starts to enter its evening peak demand.
