Eskom's strategy to create 300,000 jobs

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd., South Africa’s biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, is evaluating the use of carbon capture at power plants as part of decarbonization plans to transform the coal-burning utility.

The process that captures carbon dioxide emissions would need to be financially viable, Chief Executive Officer André de Ruyter said in an interview on radio station 702 on Friday.

Let the new guy do his job. Alternatively, let us wait for the expert who spent 85 years in eskom to comment. Let us not make this thread about me.

In port eli.. sorry querberg... er algoa er.nelson mandela bay (phew!) there is a factory called phillips carbon black where they do almost precisely that. The very fine carbon dust produced there has many important functions, not least of which is in the vulcanisation of rubber (which makes it harder and longer wearing so our tires last and last)

So there is a commercial application for the product, if it can be done in a cost effective manner of course. I have no problem with them employing more people if it produces a revenue stream that pays for them.

So they going to increase taxes to pay for these employees. A monopoly that needs taxpayer bailouts.

Are they not already overstaffed? Rather just move the existing permanent lunch breakers so they can go do nothing at yet another division.

Eskom should worry about creating electricity, so that other companies can use it and create jobs themselves.
Unfortunately they also have to worry about the environmental compliance as part of their job of creating electricity, control of emissions and renewables is a big part of that, maybe they also wish all they had do do was worry about creating electricity, their lives would be so much simpler.
