At this point, if you have a business or work at a company that can afford it, or can even afford to get solar or something at home, just get the power install going. Start generating your own power and then deal with the consequences/regulations later.

I normally think Ted Blom is a bit of a tool, but I think he's right on the money here.

I'll watch it later. I hope that his tirade was tempered a bit by de Ruyter and Judge Dennis Davis:

Will you be leaving the equipment behind or look at reselling it when you about to leave? It does pick up a house value when looking to sell also from what I hear.

Or long story short budget lol
Gonna leave it, hence not wanting to spend too much - I already think we're in for a nightmare with compliance certificates, this house was a mess - and shortcuts were taken getting it transferred. I still don't know how it was transferred "legally".

That there hasn't been any riots, marches regarding Load shedding is an eye opener really. So normal SA's can't even sue Eskom, after all these years. I have no idea % wise who has access to power. So how come this is power month or something in SA? The other day there was a workers day I see, but there's like 35%+ without work? The SA Gov should've been comedians.

Baffles me at times, but then again money talks more than compliance in some cases. Drop me a pm with the budget il work a package out for you to get you through the shedding.

So what has De Ruyter fixed? It sounds far worse than before his time. More loadshedding, more breakages, more outtages.

Hmm somehow it sounds like he is doing a far worse job than his predecessor.

Oh and millions of litres of fuel is being stolen, same with billions of rands of parts, and he is unaware of this.

So what is he aware of? He hasnt fixed anything, he just made it worse. He is just more vocal about it.
The personal bEE that was appointed to heat the chairs, must now do something.

Thank you for this. Exactly what we have been saying all along (to the dismay of MyCadres). This country's power problems can be fixed not by Eskom, but by industrialists, but that would be a failure because BEE.

His knowledge is very elementary. Example he talks about coal fired power plants boilers are designed not to be maintained and operated for 40 years without entering them…

He spent 2 years at Eskom in the 80’s, rest of the time he was pushing numbers with textbook ideas. This guy isn’t as good as his Linkedin profile looks. His knowledge is limited, and one would have hoped his BCom, LLB and MBA would have atleast given him a strategic edge which you see he is lacking when he sits next to Andre. All I see and hear is consultant who is bitter due to his retainer being cut short, I’m sure Andre de Ruyter heard all his brilliant ideas, surprised Andre even gave him the time of day…

This guy needs to stop behaving like he is an expert in the energy sector…

I generally prefer the opinion of Chris Yelland over Ted, but like I said, if you can fix the problem but a crook is standing in your way stopping you, fix the problem and deal with the crook in court later. Because let's be honest, we CAN fix load shedding. The problem is the BEE coal guys, the syndicates and the ANC are holding us all to ransom because they are raking it in big.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
In fairness to Ted Blom, not all that he is saying is rubbish, he holds degrees in finance, law and mineral economics and has had a long and illustrious career in energy and mining consulting, he was at Eskom from 1987 until 1989 (and afterward did short stints for both Bain and McKinsey ) and was back at Eskom in the 2000s under various consulting engagements.
He is no politician and speaks his mind. He is wrong in some of his assertions on blaming de Ruyter though, and this has been pointed out to him. But I do believe that his heart is in the right place.
Edit: He acknowledges that he hasn't been inside de Ruyter's office.

His heart might be in the right place but not his mind…
He touches on many things and you can’t help but raise an eyebrow and realise that he is out of touch, almost laughed when he was blabbing about renewable energy and the environment LOL.

It’s all hit and miss when he is talking about the tech, perhaps it’s his corporate mentality…

You can only state that he is out of touch if you have more insight than he has. Have you done any work for Eskom recently?

Are you Ted Blom?
Nope, but you still haven't answered my question.
What experience at Eskom do you have that invalidates Ted Blom's?
What insights can you share with us to support the statements that you make?

I have enough experience to call bullzhit on several assertions he makes for one the outrageous claim he makes about boilers…

Is this you defending him/yourself on a separate occasion:

What is the basis of you accepting his hogwash? “sound” ?

Supposedly we are getting that 720MW Unit 2 at Kusile back tomorrow so that should return Eskom to Stage 3 although if more breakdowns occur, back to Stage 4 we go!
