Eskom must get rid of thousands of skilled whites, including white engineers

What will most likely happen is they will get rid of these people as permanent employees of Eskom and they will come back in a consulting role earning many times more.

That's how the government works, hire only blacks and just pay consultants to do the work.
 
Helen Zille raises an interesting point, obviously much to the disgust of all those who don't like the truth, surely the employment demographic should reflect the graduation demographics of engineers and not society as a whole?!

If there are few blacks registering, and qualifying, as engineers then how can you expect 90% of those employed to be black?

Yes, the counter argument of populist politicians would be to ask why the are so few black engineering graduates but you don't find a solution to that by forcing employment of those less qualified! You do the hard yards and improve education and opportunities. Much the same with sport quotas.
 
Slightly different angles to the same story by News24 and MyBB.

News24 claims it is the view of Jan de Lange whilst angling the story as if it came directly from the government and MyBB claims "the Department of Labour is insisting that Eskom must make changes"

So if News24 and Rapport are right, these are the VIEWS of Jan de Lange/Rapport but not the government?

Seems like all the posters here and on News24 have been troll baited by the irresponsible journalists in MyBroadband, News24 and Rapport to increase hits to their respective pages/newspapers.

If this is indeed coming from the government, give us more details like which department and who made the comments, until then this is nothing but confirmed troll bait.
 
Whites should know better than getting a job in South Africa. Stupid whites, what are they thinking..... Erm.

I worked for Eskom and my manager told me that despite being the highest qualified and experienced in the dept there was zero chance that I would get promoted into a management position. That was my cue to hit up Norway.

I also had the race card played against me 3 times in 5 minutes when informing a black engineer of the clear faults in his design package.

Anyway, they can go suck it and apparently I assisted in cutting the white count from those jobs.
 
This is in line with govt's promise to redress white privilege as touted by Verashni. Of course, privileges such as a decent, affordable electrical grid must now be taken away and given to a few hundred 'engineers' whose only qualifications are being black. Transformation in progress!
 
Reminds me of the Zimbabwe situation - even when a policy has completely wrecked something important they feel a need to roll out more of the same.
