Eskom nails project coordinator for inflating tender price

Eskom employee arrested on corruption charges

Eskom says one of its employees was arrested on 20 July 2023 over alleged tender irregularities at Kriel power station.

The state-owned power utility said it received a tip-off from a member of the public on 28 October 2022 about the alleged corruption.
Thanks, but arrests of Eskom fraudsters are lame AF by now.. these are happening left, right and center.. please do this again for when we finally have one of these treasonous okes actually sent to prison..

Wasn't there an article last week about Eskom not going after the individuals but rather trying to catch those higher up in the syndicates? R25k doesn't seem like syndicate money to me...
How much does syndicates pay?

And the notion that all corruption is syndicates is flawed, anyone who is involved in corrupt activities should be arrested, end of story.

“Subsequent to all necessary evaluations, the buyer approached the key stakeholders involved in the evaluation process to request the supplier to submit another bid with inflated price, with an understanding that the difference between the original price and the new price would be shared among themselves.

“The supplier then submitted another bid with a new tender value almost double the initial amount and was appointed. The supplier started paying those involved an amount of R25 000 each on separate occasions, with the first payment made on 21 October 2022,” Eskom said.

I wonder why the inflated tender was allowed in the first place, no one thought there was something odd about all this?

Believe it or not, the corrupt tender happened during De Ruyter's tenure, Cassim is bogged down by having to clean up the mess left behind by De Ruyter.
Cassim was CFO, another redundant position.

The CFO's job is not to determine the price of services, that us the job of technical people who are supposed to know the cost of those things, that was supposed to be Jan's job. Our saviour De Ruyter being the head honcho under whose tenure corruption was never tolerated should have kicked Jan's behind the same he did to the guy who was buying mops for expensive money, but you can't do that a fellow tribesman.

To make sure that there is budget allocated and the money is used for the intended purpose and the books are in order. If Jan tells Cassim that the tender for lights of the coal yard is going to cost R10m then he must take Jan's word for it, because Jan is the authority on how much lights are supposed to cost. If it later turns out the lights actually cost R100k you go to Jan to ask why he approved the R10m tender, he is the technical expert.

Same way he will listen to the security expert Karen when she tells him a 3 month security tender cost R500m, Karen is a security expert, not Cassim. The only thing that Cassim can say is, we don't have the money so make a plan to get the cost down to R200m. Of course he can suggest cost cutting but that won't be based on his expert technical knowledge on the subject matter, it will be purely from a budgetary point of view.

That's how things work in corporates and that's why we have executives for every department, if one man or woman was supposed to know everything why would we have all the executives? The reasons things get out of control is when people are not held accountable for their roles.

Cassim makes sure there is money for billion rand per month whiskey hand washing.

What about BEE and AA?
Them too. They are wrapped up into Transformation, yet sufficiently evil enough to get their own mention, plus we don't want people thinking that we are talking about LQTBAI.

So, altogether now:

Lekker BEE, AA and Transformation!

Me too. Thank you for the quality check and feedback, it is much appreciated.
Please feel free to reach out if there is anything else that I can do to emphasise the message, and to reach the unbelievers heathen folk.
