Zero buyers have been encouraged by the power utility not to leave this to the last minute.

I wonder if I'll still be bombarded with 1000 units for R300 ads on Facebook.Nah I think the 400k new customers is a legit number. They won't be repeat customers though, they just did it to get the KRN update thats it.
the vast majority of those meters will be bypassed again already.
But regardless of this, this idea of "amnesty" for issues like this is something we need to stop in this country.

Someone is probably still going to fall for it, so there should be no reason to stop.I wonder if I'll still be bombarded with 1000 units for R300 ads on Facebook.
Will see. Technically ghost vendors can still use the old system by setting their dates in the past.Maybe in about 6 months when they've stolen the new token codes.
It is a low IQ move tbh.Still looks more like once off buyers to me, I don't get why someone who wasn't buying would suddenly be a buyer because of KRN, they bought for the sake of the KRN change, and will go back to their default settings, unless the holy spirit has come over them and they saw the error of their ways.
“In the past ten days, we saw zero buyers coming forward in huge numbers wanting to buy electricity and do the right thing,” says Eskom’s group executive for distribution, Monde Bala.
“We will continue to treat these users with dignity and respect as we resolve these issues for all who did the right thing.”
Yip and try report them to protect the ignorant and FB says nothing and does nothing.I wonder if I'll still be bombarded with 1000 units for R300 ads on Facebook.
There was no successful roll-out of smart meters with communications as the ANC and P03SKOM blocked any/all proposals/tenders back in the 2000s already, or rather, it was all above their headsHow do people bypass these meters? Certainly it should be picked up remotely if people tamper with their meters? It doesn't sound like a reliable system if it is so easily bypassed. Updating to KRN2 or whatever wont fix the problem.
That's quiet neat. seen alot worse. As simple as this:

Meter on the wall and Eskom cable going into the meter, tap the cable before the meter and supply yourself with unmetered electricity. How do people bypass these meters? No, the meter does not get bricked. It just won't accept tokens until it gets the "upgrade". The lies around all of this told to the public by the authorities are and will all come out sooner or later.I thought one of the benefits of the KRN change is all the old token generation machines that got stolen/leaked will no longer work.
If you don't update the KRN the meter essentially gets bricked, you can't use blackmarket or legitimately bought tokens.
Some heavy gloves, (or maybe not), a few car battery cables and you are in business. Then you make the bypass connections permanent and hidden. "Finish and klaar" heh heh.How do people bypass these meters? Certainly it should be picked up remotely if people tamper with their meters?
