I live in a small town....Lived in the same house for 8 years (and the area for almost 30)...
Zero theft issues UNTIL 2, yes, thats right, 2 scrap yards opened up in the village...Now everything is vanishing around here....even farm gates and fencing from up in the koppies 5km away....Its all got a value now...

There is Always some scruffy thing lurking around with rusty old pliers and a empty 50kg meilie sake....Always looking to steal.....Cops also in on it in my opinion...A lot of apathy when we want to go and see if the scrappys are doing the paperwork etc....

Maybe a fraction of the problem, but the scrapyards in every town is 99% of the issue.
