so 3 loadsheds today... just got off the last one that was 30 mins long and blew my 29" samsung monitor.

Then they want to charge 25% more? I did not think telkom could be topped as the worst company in sa but it has now...

Like petrol prices, people will continue to pay it. Unlike cars (on the most part) you have other choices but even at a 25% increase it will still take a long time to pay off the equipment unless we see an increase in local manufacture or relaxed import duties.

I don't understand how a decision like that can be made with the consumers being excluded from such a decision. Surely it can't just be up to NERSA?

Clowns running the show, we have no say except when we pack up and leave, taking whatever knowledge and taxes with us

We are damned if Nersa approves the increase, and damned if they don't

I'm glad they've given themselves time and hope they give this full deliberation - put some conditions on Eskom which force meaningful change

Oh, its going to happen - see all the noise coming out about its not a 25% increase, its an increase of 25% including their recent increase for a total of 25% this year.

It's around 10c extra per unit (kWh). Hardly going to force most people into bankruptcy. Calm down.

Most are like myself, on a very tight shoestring budget. Any other increases in either water, electricity or petrol price will see us going down into debt.

And that is where I don't want to go. I CANNOT AFFORD ANY MORE PRICE INCREASES. So put that into your pipe and smoke it.

By the by we have cut out MOST of our expenses and is only living on the most basic.

People WILL go into bankruptcy. Just watch it.

Not load shedding. Load shedding doesn't usually last for 30 minutes. Also, load shedding was only implemented from 16:00 most of this week so far.

Where's the ANC March against this? Guess it's time to consider moving to Soweto...

Speaking of which. Saw in my local newspaper yesterday that we are getting rates increases here in the cape. Basically everything is going up 11%, including water, sewerage, refuse removal, etc... the whole effing lot.

That's hectic. I only use around 250 kWh pm in a 2 bed apartment. But I'm a single person so it's basically just one light on at a time, the TV, HT system that probably doesn't use much, fridge and microwave (also probably don't use much) and the washing machine once a week. I have a gas stove though, so maybe that makes a difference?
