Eskom kisses R450 million goodbye

It remains unclear how long an Eskom employee at the Kusile Power Station got away with processing dodgy purchase orders after hours, for which she received kickbacks.

On 12 February 2025, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) revealed that its investigations at Eskom power stations had flagged after-hours purchase orders at Kusile amounting to R450 million that were processed by one employee.

"The staff member in question is currently facing disciplinary procedures."

And we all know where that will be in 5yrs time.

What is the case number please.

And then when someone like AfriForum or Solidarity lay charges they being racist....................

What the fvck?

How greedy can you be and how did it reach this amount before someone woke up?
The reporting is poor, they are reporting as if the whole R450 million was fictitious purchases that doesn't exist in reality, which isn't the case. The fact that they were done after hours indicate something irregular that was happening but not necessarily that there were no services rendered.

The reason they got away with it to that amount is probably because there were services rendered by those service providers, some valid, and some not, which helped to give some legitimacy to the operation. And remember they are low amount contracts that accumulated over time, the investigation span a period of 20 years.

don't worry EKSOLAR will recover the loss with a quick word to NERSA for an increase of the sun tax for solar and then the consumer will pay as always
