Eskom's big battery plan — by the numbers

Eskom has provided more details on the contracts awarded to Hyosung Heavy Industries and Pinggao Group for its flagship Battery Energy Storage System project.

The utility recently confirmed the two successful bidders would contribute a combined 687MWh of capacity to Phase 1 of the BESS project in feedback sent to MyBroadband.

Is that all though? We lose much more than that in any given stage of load shedding.
Why not pump the money into sustainable power generation, or just bloody fixing the power stations!

They should rather spend their money expanding and upgrading the national grid. Leave these projects to the private sector.

They did say it's proof of concept and phase 1,so maybe if it works out well there will be more investment.
