Eskom offers workers 7% increase — Report

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. is offering workers a 7% wage increase, after the utility lost units during illegal protests that plunged South Africa into the worst blackouts since 2019, according to people familiar with the information.

The offer is for one year, said the people who asked not to be identified because the information is not public.

Should have fired the lot now. Sends the wrong message getting rewarded for illegal strikes. Shows how useless, incompetent and ineffective our leaders are.

Not the leaders, the cops... the cops are useless cause you know if they fired em we would have had Durban 2.0 with people looting and what not again.

This is such a brilliant lesson for every other government employee and is going to work out swimmingly for the country going forward.

Next time they go on strike retrench them and give the rest that didn’t strike their salaries
And then who exactly is doing to be doing the job? You won’t get skilled replacement staff overnight you know. The trained staff literally has the upper hand.
Inflation is tough. Their increase is essentially only an inflation adjustment. Nothing out of this world.

Public servants have not received any increases since 2019. Yet we work everyday, and we are not allowed to strike.
What nonsense is this??

Wait what????
So we have an overstaffed and overpaid workforce...
Whom sabotages the country and engages in intimidation and illegal strikes... Yet instead of firing/ retrenching/ getting them arrested.... We offer them a 7% increase....
Who is still wondering why things just keeps on getting worse?

That's an impressive raise considering they just cost the economy billions.
