Eskom stage 4 load-shedding implemented – No end date given

Eskom has announced it will implement stage 4 load-shedding from 09:00 today, 11 March.

Load-shedding shifted to stage 4 on Tuesday afternoon after a fault occurred on the turbine section of Koeberg Unit 1. The unit was subsequently disconnected from the grid.

“The loss of approximately 930MW in Koeberg puts further strain on the generation fleet, necessitating an increase in the stage of load-shedding,” Eskom stated.

de Ruyter said 18-months minimum. Had he not been at the behest of his ANC overlords, he would've said until 2025 at least.

It may get better (Stage 2), or worse (Stage 6). It won't be going away, despite the lull in February.

Wonder when (not if) we will reach the point where people just accepted it as part of life in dark Africa, and when a generation will have grown up without knowing the difference.

A generation growing up without knowing what difference? A couple of hours without electricity or part of your life without electricity?

This should not be allowed and this should not become acceptable.

Andre and Cyril must be forced to give a press conference everytime there are rolling blackouts and to have an exact timeframe in place.

It's normalizing and allowing this how you end up with Donald Trump as the sane option. It's the same here, the warnings are clear and yet we keep on giving Cyril the green light.

Lyk asof Eskom 'n goeie pomp nodig het.

"The power utility suddenly announced Stage 4 load shedding early on Tuesday evening after Koeberg Unit 1 tripped. According to Eskom it was due to a fault with the sea water pump that cools the reactors. "

Hold them to account after 18 months, that's what they asked for to improve things.

I just wonder what the state of economy will be after another 18 months of this...the decline of our economy is probably becoming exponential because of this.

Blackouts are increasing without any feedback.

Time to hold them accountable is yesterday - aksing for 18 months and showing the Taxpayers what the actual plan is, is two different things.

The reality is, Eskom is worsening under Andre (like Nampak) and rolling blackouts without any estimate of ending is being accepted as normal and IPPs are not allowed to fix the issue despite a myriad of evidence to show they are able.

18 months from when? They were saying 18 months in January, February and recently. So do we hold them accountable in October, November or December of 2021?

What kind of feedback do you want? He said mos they will go on an intensive maintenence program and we should expect loadshedding for the next 18 months?

It's becoming worse because of maintenance, something that wasn't done when it was supposed to be done, it's not Andre's fault.

IPP's will be our only saving grace. Unfortunately ESKOM don't want IPPS'.

And why? They claim that when the IPP's take all the pressure off of ESKOM, it wil technically give ESKOM time to fix all their aging plants, with our tax money of course...

BUT then they will not make their money back or generate enough income to be sustainable, or have use for these fixed/new generation units, since most people will buy from IPP's and/or be self sufficient.

In a sick and twisted way that does make sense...with IPPS's coming online, ESKOM will finally become a complete dinosaur.
