Eskom started Friday blackouts

Eh. They kicked off with a six hour and ten minute outage yesterday, in our neck of the woods, and there's probably more of the same planned for today. #shrugs

Stage 1 was for those who believed that German war ships and fighter jets would improve people's lives more than Hitachi power generators, so they didn't build any over 20 years.

Stage 2 is for those who believe that aluminum smelters contribute to people's lives more than the rest of industry.

Stage 3 is Hello Zim. Power blackout interrupt official celebration of Mandela legacy, saving us from listening to the boring speech on Classic FM. Anybody have heard about stage 4?

Stage 4 is for those who believe that taking power distribution out from Eskom is a recipe for power generation crises.

I have the distinct priviledge of getting shed thrice today. 1000-1230, 1400-1630 and 2200-0030.

I guess my budget this month has to include a generator :(

These power outages and load shedding is becoming the norm and part of our day to day activities here in joburg. I normally plan my day around it.
Jacob Zuma must be happy now, since most of South Africans are having something else to rant about. Corruption can take second place after load shedding.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality manages to keep us in the dark even with the power still on. According to the revised schedule we arent supposed to have power now but of course they've decided to completely ignore that schedule so who knows when it's going to go off next.

Their facebook and twitter hasn't been updated in two days.

Good thing is at least CoCT broadly sticks to schedules. Sounds like complete shambles in other municipalities.

Yea stage 3 in pretoria. Phone and kindle stays charged, phone packed with series, kindle with books. At least we are in reasonable times. 8am to 10:30am and 4pm to 6:30pm.

I have a schedule, so far they are keeping to it. Not acceptable but at least I can work around it.

I think CoCT is at least putting in sone effort

Its evident in that they don't shed any one zone for more than 150 minutes at a time. I see in other municipalities the people get shed for 4 to 6 hours at a time!
