If it tripped why wasn’t backup power running for a few hours until restored?

You cannot depend on the government to take care of your every need. It is better to empower yourself to be able to take care of yourself in every way possible.

Just African infrastructure doing African things..

Go ask Malema why he said this..
Malema said the EFF manifesto was based on an observation that people were landless, jobless, local government was incapable and many people in SA still did not have access to water.
Tell us why local guavamint was incapable.
No seriously, explain to us like we are children.
Waiting..

They had a huge veld fire in the area yesterday and that affected the supply to the Rand water

My colleague lives in the area and it was huge
Yes, let's say that is the reason for the "issues". Let's forget about the idea of having mitigation on critical infrastructure. It's the main water source for most of Gauteng, not some random pump for a well. There is no excuse for bad Risk Management

Update: EWN reports that Eskom has said there was no infrastructure damage to its Snowden substation and that it restored power to the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Works as soon as the veld fire subsided.

According to the report, it could take up to two days before water will be fully restored to Gauteng.

If Malema was on this forum he would have been burnt a long time ago

Two months. They have to release a tender to switch on the pump.
