Eskom takes back control of Gauteng metro's load-shedding

Eskom will resume directly load-shedding customers of the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) after the metropolitan municipality's repeated failure to implement the required amount of the scheduled power cuts.

In a statement on Thursday, 29 February 2024, Eskom said that the municipality had failed to adhere to the NRS 048-9:2019 code of practice, which determines how much load electricity distributors must shed under each stage of load-shedding.

I want to know how this is possible. We get shed on the hour and it only comes back on 10 to 20 minutes late. Somewhere someone is lying.

Yup, just the other day most of the town was out for 4 days. We were lucky to just get half a day. Somewhere the figures don't match up and knowing Eskom it's likely on their side.
Yea a friend of mine was telling me about the outages. I remember a year or 2 ago that Ekurhuleni had over 1500 outages a day. It's got to be more than that by now. And of course they don't do overnight standby anymore and they don't have spares. Complete fuster cluck.

To be expected . Run by a bunch of 30%ers a. Thank god for solar
No Overtime and if there is a fault on a weekend, wait till monday
Mayor is from a party that only got a few % of voters . F Joke

Not a surprise as there are areas in Boksburg and Kempton Park not getting any loadshedding at all.

Certain areas in Boksburg used to get loadshedding about a third of the time that it was scheduled. I stay in one of those areas.

Time to go snitch hunting.

This was a total F-up last time. They would switch off and forget to switch it back on for 12-Hours at a time sometimes. Then the criminal fckers go steal the cables and stuff and then it takes weeks to repair while there is no electricity.

I can attest to this. Glen Marais doesn't get shed between 10pm and 8am... been like that for about 6 months now? Maybe even longer...

Don't worry when Eskom control loadshedding you will wonder if you will ever have electricity again.
This back and forth between Eskom and COE is nothing new. And yes, when Eskom is in control nothing gets missed and extra downtime is thrown in, for good measure!
