Eskom technically load-shed at Stage 7 last week - BER

I don't think there is a real practical way to save Eskom. When dealing with corruption on this scale there is no easy answer. The private sector isn't allowed to build power stations and sell power. But even if they allow the private sector what idiot in their right mind will spend billions on building a power station in South Africa with looming land grabs? It is just not going to happen. No one can own/run a business in South Africa anymore, failing infrastructure, corruption and no investment security to speak of. Eskom happily f.ucked us all and they are just demanding more and more money.

No no, the ANC happily f.ucked us all and they will continue to do so.

They shed load until available supply meets the demand excluding the amount shed.

OCGT's, pumped storage and turbine speed is used fine tune things where there is a slight over or under estimation.
But how do they get the amount shed? They'd have to have a baseline demand with no loadshedding and calculate the difference between the baseline full demand and demand with loadshedding.

When loadshedding has been pretty much continuous this year, how do you get an accurate baseline?

I suppose it's possible they're using historical data to calculate what the demand would have been without loadshedding?

I get what you are asking.

My factory has been offline for just over a month because of loadshedding. So is the power I consume, or would have consumed, factored in anywhere? I don't think so. As far as I can tell loadshedding is just a basic actual demand vs supply calculation.

So in theory, we could already be much higher than stage 5.

Eskom wants massive power increases so they can do f.uckall and get paid. That is why they are creating laws to f.uck over households that got solar installed. Eskom wants to get paid for the power people are producing privately. Think how spectacularly f.ucked up that is. They do absolutely f.uckall but want money for it. Then the municipality wants their cut for doing nothing. Now, where does that leave us? Come on now, how the f.uck does any of this work? It is all bulls.hit and we know it.
