Hey, here in the leafier suburbs we promptly get disconnected for non-payment, so don't think of coming for us..

Eskom wrote off R5.3billion of Soweto's R13billion electricity debt in 2021 (hint: it's still ~R7.5billion) yet according to them Tshwane's measly R878 million is the problem..
Tshwane is still very lucky, could have been a lot worse.

Very happy, so they were just full of nonsense?

Got the highlights of the Tshwane budget today. R12.1bn is budgeted for bulk electricity, that leaves this amount at less than the monthly average.

Smoke and mirrors from Eskom and weird reaction from Tshwane.

They DID build power plants...but grossly over budget due to corruption. Also these plants do not work properly...AND one was blown up due to incompetence.

It is blatantly obvious that MONEY will not solve the problem.
Agreed money alone won't solve the problem. But they also can't solve the current problems without money. And the previous money has long since disappeared.

I do not want to be in De Ruyter's shoes. No money, corrupt organization, political interference, hostile public. He needs some room to manoeuvre, and I am not sure where that room will come from.
