Eskom to investigate allegations of racism against De Ruyter

The Eskom board will investigate allegations made against CEO Andre De Ruyter, the company announced in a statement on 9 March.

“In light of the allegation of racism that has been made in the public domain against Group Chief Executive (GCE) André de Ruyter, the Eskom Board of Directors has resolved to initiate an investigation in order to establish the veracity and the basis to the allegation,” Eskom said.

“The allegation not only brings Eskom into disrepute, but it also threatens to detract and distract the focus of the Executive Team and the GCE in particular from their critical job of restoring Eskom to operational and financial sustainability.”

De Ruyter: Trying to root out corruption and save Eskom
Eskom: RACE CARD!!

In all seriousness though, the "only brings Eskom into disrepute" brought me to the verge of tears from laughter!! Eskom has been in a state of disrepute for more than a decade now thanks to the continual interference by government to loot and plunder and steal! Glad to see the race card carries a much higher "disrepute" than corruption and theft!

VIVA ANC VIVA AFRICA!

Here we go...it was just a matter of time.
why was anybody expecting anything else?

guy tried to do his job, and stand between the rampant corruption and incompetence
and the Public tax funded utility that critical for the Countries survival.

obviously something was going to happen, and now we will all see why SA is doomed to failure.
as this "race card" issue is going to be used constantly to advance certain narratives.

There are no holy cows, all allegations should be investigated.

100%.

Investigate the allegations.
But for me, on the face of it, this is an indication that the man is doing his job and doing his job well in terms of rooting out the corruption and issues and people are scrambling to try tarnish him to get him booted out.

Investigate it, of course.

Dude is trying to fix a broken company so he's trying to take out the trash. So of course the trash calls him racist....

The dude pointing the finger should be investigated for a.) Racism and b.) Corruption.

Yes, investigate please as if he is found not-guilty, all the sentiments towards pulling the race card when someone is proven incompetent/corrupt will be true.

Same with Zuma, feeling calling on his 'constitutional rights' when things get hot...

All allegations should be investigated this is not an animal farm.

That being said, the mere fact of this being Eskom, I am 99% sure this is an ANC-fueled tactic to prevent him from doing his job.

Apparently meritocracy is racist because the only thing that matters is an equality of outcome.

The statement does not say what he was alleged to have done. Any disagreements between people in South Africa reduces to this generalization and it usually succeeds.
