Eskom smart meter push

In the struggle to constrain the ever-increasing debt owed to Eskom by South African municipalities, the utility's CFO, Calib Cassim, is looking to technology in the form of smart meters.

While numerous municipalities have signed up for the municipal debt relief programme, Cassim said, "it is not achieving the desired outcome" during a roundtable hosted by the South African National Energy Association.

Eskom wants money but more importantly it wants control over each and every house in South Africa. One town over people started to protest because the meters was consuming more units then normal. The municipality eventually did something when people went in mass to the municipal offices.

That is what it took to get the municipality to rectify a problem. It is very important to realize that no support phone number worked, no one was able to contact anyone with this problem. So when they install this stuff make sure you test them with a known load.

Most house hold appliances state how much power they draw. Find something like a heater that uses 1000Watts 1kw or 1 unit of power per hour. make sure it is the only thing that is on in your home and check the meter against the load. You will see very quickly when it counts down to fast. If you see it is a problem report it immediately take photos because they will demand proof.

The description "non buyer" when referring to electricity thieves, absolutely slays me!
Homeless people will soon be referred to as "un-housed"
Speedsters will be referred to as "fast motorists"
Reckless motorists will be referred to as "non-caring" motorists

Why has it become politically correct to call the common criminal by a nicer descriptor? Is it perhaps because guvmunt has many such criminals?

Put in a meter and have the municipality decide when you get electricity and when you get turned off. Yeah!,... I don't think so.

Same as the word they coined when zuma was the head clown.

Untruths instead of lies

Stop the cadres in the municipalities from stealing.
Simple.
