Eskom wants people with solar panels to pay more for electricity

I mean duh

Eskom said South Africans who use solar power systems generate most of their electricity during the day.

This would mostly be businesses, as generally users should have batteries. Plus they'd need to ramp up anyway at night

As long as there is a way to disconnect from the grid so they can lose me as a customer until sanity returns I'm fine with it.
If you move, to a place without a connection

I think the south African way is to just set fire to the transformers until they stop replacing them.
Ah but that effects a whole lot more than you

It does make sense to charge a network charge. Their previous model is probably outdated.

But then I should also be able to not use their network if I so choose. And if that happens all the lower usage people will get those solar deals that will cost them less per month than just the connection charge proposed here.

Once the water infrastructure is more fcked, then borehole users are going to need to pay a premium for using the ANCs underground water reserves.

Anything you do to protect yourself from a stupid government is going to cost you a stupid tax.

What’s next?

Prasa charging a rail availability fee to those who own cars?

This idea that they are entitled to a certain level of revenue despite their own glaring errors is ridiculous.

If there is one thing that we as a society need to stand up and protest against it is this. We are not their bank. They do not have a divine right to our money.

This is surely the last straw for us?
