Eskom wants solar power users to pay R938 per month - even if they don't use its electricity

So the R938 is effectively an availability charge. So it would be fair to expect the system to be available them. And it would be fair to withhold that fee if the system was unavailable at any point in the month - right.
It would also be fair to require money to be refunded for every minute of unavailability since 2008 (or was it 2007?).

Look at you applying logic and fairness to Eskom. Yea that's not really how it works here.

How about Eskom pay damages to every business in South Africa.

This kak attitude of theirs is going to earn them some pretty horrifying lawsuits.

If I were them I'd be very careful about pissing off the population any further than they've already done, their debt is a drop in the ocean of the economic destruction they've caused.

According to this data, Eskom customers with usage below 900kWh will pay substantially more than before.
A user that previously used 400kWh on Homepower 1 would be paying R593 per month more on the proposed new Homepower 1 tariff.

What if there's a stage 6 loadshedding and my household as result consumes less. Or if I abide by Escoms requests to switch off any unnecessary equipment.
Do I get penalized as a result??

Eskom has completely lost the plot.... Now they think they're SARS. Would be interesting to know how many jobs have been created through solar and wind home and commercial installations.

"average household in South Africa used 900kWh"
I think the average is lower.
Most people I know that are cost aware are more in the 600 to 900 range, so 900 average sounds a little high.
Maybe it's the average for "Paying" users?

The genius that came up with this kak idea can suck it.
wtf is that even, wow.
