is it? is it really? i would love to feed into the grid.
if government/municipalities could concentrate on battery storage and let residents install solar, even subsidise it for lower income folks, this will go a long way in alleviating poverty. imagine every shack is getting paid to produce power.

Oh no, I'm not talking small scale stuff here.. the attitude towards renewables at large scale is shifting....

It will be another decade I reckon before the attitude towards small scale starts shifting significantly.

People living in shacks are in no position to buy solar panels.

If government forces them to buy electricity, then they can carry Eskom into the future. I am not sure where else they will get the money from, because there are people like me who already, over a few years, replaced their geysers with solar geysers. Replaced all lights with downlights powered by solar. Replaced stoves and ovens with gas. The past few years I have cut about R3k a month on my electricity bill.

I am now working on a month-to-month basis to get a proper solar system setup to leave the grid in total.

Yep, like Emfuleni council. We all got hit by a R5K "surcharge" on our rates and taxes, the month after they got exposed with R172bn fraud.

Neither are people like me - low budget retirees in modest blocks of flats. If we had to put solar on our roofs many people would not be able to afford the additional levies required to make it possible.

Eskom wants to hike electricity prices even more

Eskom wants R27.2 billion to be added to power tariffs to account for the amount under-recovered in the 2018/19 period, the City Press reports.

National energy regulator Nersa has published Eskom's latest application for public comment, in which Eskom suggests that this increase be implemented over the next two years.
First get the hundreds of billions you stole with the Guptas back you corrupted dork legged trash.
